Our Mission

The Business Alliance for Customs Modernization (BACM) is a select group of large U.S.-based multinationals that are heavily invested in helping ensure that the United States continues to have a modern, efficient and responsible customs regime. BACM is committed to working with Congress, the White House, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, other U.S. agencies, as well as with other industry and trade associations, on issues of common interest related to trade facilitation and compliance.  BACM members account for a meaningful percentage of U.S. trade and are committed to proactive, constructive engagement with all relevant stakeholders to promote consistent, reasonable and simple customs processes and procedures for the 21st century and beyond.

Our Key Priorities

  • Engaging on US trade policy initiatives (e.g., Section 301 investigations, the WTO, etc.)

  • The implementation and enforcement of trade agreements in an effective and responsible way

  • Engaging with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on the 21st Century Customs Framework

  • Engagement with Congress, CBP and other stakeholders on issues such as the evolution of trusted trader programs, forced labor protections, intellectual property enforcement and other topics
